Empress Rooms
The Empress Transition House is a supportive housing environment located in the Downtown Eastside.
We are a 33-unit single room accommodation providing transitional housing to adult women at risk, transwomen inclusive, who are or have been impacted by violence and/or abuse. Our goal is to provide a safe and clean environment and to nurture a sense of community and mutual support. We operate from a feminist, harm-reduction, anti-oppression perspective.
Staff offer support services to women 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A nurse’s clinic runs three days a week, providing on-site health care. Breakfast and dinner are prepared in an onsite Community Kitchen seven days a week, and lunch staples and snacks are also available in the afternoons. For safety reasons and to enhance the feeling of home, no visitors are allowed.
